2017 Power of the Purse®
Keynote speaker Glennon Doyle Melton, author of the inspiring New York Times bestselling memoirs Carry On, Warrior, and Love Warrior, dazzled a packed Karl Dean Ballroom at the Music City Center April 12 at the 19th annual Power of the Purse luncheon and silent auction to benefit The Women’s Fund of The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee. The Fund supports Middle Tennessee women and girls in need.
Melton professed her admiration for 2017 Honorary Chair and country singing star Martina McBride, seated just in front of the stage, during her wide-ranging, inspirational and often laugh-inducing onstage conversation with Ruth Ann Harnisch, a philanthropist and former Nashville journalist who also was instrumental in founding both The Women’s Fund and the Power of the Purse fundraiser.
Since its inception in 1994, the Women’s Fund has bade grants totaling more than $1.3 million.
