Black Philanthropy Month at CFMT

CFMT’s Black-Led Philanthropy

Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee proudly stewards funds established by Black community leaders, dedicated to supporting and uplifting Black causes in our region. These funds are a testament to the strength and vision of our Black community, focused on driving positive change and making possible opportunities that enrich lives and create lasting impact. Through these efforts, we aim to honor the legacy and contributions of Black leaders while empowering future generations.

Honoring Gamechangers

Kicking off with a celebration of Black Philanthropy Month and running through GivingTuesday, CFMT is recognizing 21 Nashville Gamechangers—visionary leaders who have made significant contributions to the community. These individuals, ranging from nonprofit leaders to business executives, have demonstrated unparalleled creativity, courage, and commitment to enhancing the well-being of Nashville’s Black community.

About Black Philanthropy Month

Since its founding, millions of people and organizations across the globe have celebrated every August as a month of celebration and renewal of giving to and by African-descent communities. Black Philanthropy Month is an annual, global celebration of African-descent giving in all its forms.

Black Philanthropy is a love of humanity and real change starts with a new vision of the future. This year’s theme, Afro-Futures of Giving, aims to imagine and co-create a more powerful future for Black giving and community finance.

Since 2019, Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee has been dedicated to championing Black Philanthropy Month as a way for us to continue to support and uplift the amazing Black-led nonprofits in our region by connecting them to donors and resources.

This year CFMT is hosting an interactive event featuring engaging conversations, networking opportunities, and a spotlight on some of Nashville’s most promising Black leaders. While we spend time together, we will explore the question: What factors are driving the future of Black giving and social finance to promote wellness, equity, and justice in Black families, institutions, and communities?

This Black Philanthropy Month, we invite you to support Black-led nonprofits and CFMT funds led by Black philanthropists. Your donation can make a meaningful impact.
