What We’re Learning

Press Forward Middle Tennessee is in an early learning phase. Our first priority is to listen carefully and build a shared understanding of how people across the region access information, what they trust, and where gaps exist.

Through community conversations, research, and collaboration with local partners, we are gathering insight to inform thoughtful, long-term efforts to strengthen local news and information across Middle Tennessee.

Our Roadmap

We welcome conversation community partners who are interested in strengthening local news and information in Middle Tennessee.

Listening and Learning

We’re conducting focus groups across Middle Tennessee to understand how residents access, trust, and share information. These conversations held in both rural and urban communities are helping us uncover where people feel connected, where gaps exist, and how trust in local news can grow.

Work Built on Trust

In partnership with The Sycamore Institute, we will conduct a 40-county landscape study to learn how Middle Tennesseans access, trust, and share information. This survey will help identify where local news is strong, where it’s struggling, and where people feel unseen or unheard.

Strength in Collaboration

Press Forward Middle Tennessee convenes funders, local news professionals, and community partners who believe that information is civic infrastructure. Together, we will host gatherings and learning sessions that connect people who care about reliable local news with those creating it.

Celebrating What’s Working

Throughout this journey, Press Forward Middle Tennessee will spotlight the innovative local outlets, storytellers, and community messengers already building stronger connections across our region. By investing in their growth through microgrants, training, and shared-service opportunities, we aim to strengthen what’s good and help it thrive.
