Why This Matters
Local news does more than report headlines. It helps people understand what’s happening where they live and how to participate in shaping their communities, as well as to understand how decisions are being made.
Across Middle Tennessee, access to reliable local information is uneven and, in some places, disappearing altogether. Press Forward Middle Tennessee exists to help close those gaps by strengthening the local information ecosystem in ways that are sustainable and community-informed.
What We’re Doing
Press Forward Middle Tennessee focuses on strengthening the conditions that allow local news and information to thrive over the long term. This includes:
- Learning from communities and local media organizations
- Identifying information gaps and assets across the region
- Supporting collaboration and sustainability in local journalism
- Sharing insights that help funders, newsrooms, and civic leaders make informed decisions
