Music Community Foundation Launches National Home for Artist-Led Philanthropy

$300 Million in Impact. 50 States. A Movement Now Going National.

NASHVILLE, Tenn., (May 6, 2026) — For decades, artists have been among America’s most powerful philanthropists. They just haven’t always had the structure to match their ambition. That changes today.

After 30 years of helping artists turn purpose into impact, Music Community Foundation (MCF) launches as a first-of-its-kind national hub for music-driven philanthropy, designed to help the industry amplify giving. Powered by Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee (CFMT), MCF equips artists, managers, and industry partners with the infrastructure to build, grow, and sustain meaningful charitable work.

Industry veteran Rondal Richardson has been named Executive Director, bringing 40 years of experience working with artists and their teams. Under his leadership, the initiative has grown into a network of more than 120 music industry partners, positioning Music Community Foundation as a central force in aligning music, influence, and impact.

What began as an entertainment philanthropy service in Music City has evolved into a national community of artists and industry leaders who use their platforms to drive change.

“For years, the music community has been the first to show up when it matters,” said Richardson. “This launch is about turning that influence into something lasting by giving artists and their teams a smarter way to build real impact. We’ve spent decades earning trust and understanding what works, and now we’re bringing that forward into the next era of music-driven philanthropy.”

Longtime partner and Music Community Foundation founding advisory council member Trisha Yearwood echoed that impact from an artist’s perspective.

“Since first partnering with the Foundation during the 2010 flood relief concerts, I’ve been proud to be part of the work they’re doing,” said Yearwood. “Through the Dottie’s Yard Fund, we’ve been able to support animal nonprofit organizations and shelters in all 50 states over the past five years. This is just one example of what’s possible when you have the right structure behind the heart, and it’s how you create meaningful, lasting change in communities everywhere.”

The launch coincides with the debut of a new website and a broader invitation to artists and industry partners ready to take their charitable work further.

Built through Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee, the platform has supported artists such as Lainey Wilson, who continues to show up for fans and communities across the country while on tour, and Kelsea Ballerini, whose efforts focus on advancing mental health. Since the entertainment philanthropy program began, the initiative has generated over $300 million in impact through more than 140 charitable funds, including $206 million in new gifts since 2018 alone. Behind the scenes, the organization has built the infrastructure that allows artists and their teams to move quickly, give strategically, and stay focused on what matters most.

That reach now spans all 50 states, with coordinated support for both national and international giving. In moments of crisis, the music community has mobilized, raising more than $75 million for disaster relief through artist-led initiatives.

But the work extends beyond urgent response. Artists are using their platforms to invest in long-term change, supporting causes from health and education to hyper-local needs in the places they call home. Each effort is distinct, shaped by the artist’s values, voice, and connection to community.

Built for the Way the Music Business Moves

Music Community Foundation supports each artist’s individual approach to giving, working alongside their teams to make philanthropy seamless, strategic, and true to who they are. For Lauren Daigle, that means expanding support for nonprofits worldwide. For Chris Stapleton, it means bringing fans into the impact by directing ticket sales toward charitable causes. The model is built to move at the pace of the industry, giving artists the structure to stay organized and compliant while keeping their giving personal and flexible.

Through Music Community Foundation, partners gain access to:

  • Customized philanthropic strategy aligned with each artist’s priorities and voice
  • Trusted grantmaking expertise to guide smart, responsible giving
  • Campaign and fundraising support, including tailored tools that help artists activate their audiences when it matters most

Founding Advisory Committee

Music Community Foundation is guided by a founding advisory committee of leaders across the music and entertainment industry, including Creative Artists Agency, Grand Ole Opry, Red Light Management, United Talent Agency, and William Morris Endeavor, as well as artists Charlie Worsham and Trisha Yearwood. Together, they bring deep industry insight and a shared commitment to expanding the role of philanthropy in music at every level of the business.
