Dr. Sammie S. Mosier is the former senior vice president and chief nurse executive for HCA Healthcare, where she led enterprise, regional and facility nurse executives and more than 100,000 registered nurses across hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers and other sites of care.
Mosier joined HCA Healthcare in 1996 as a medical-surgical nurse at Frankfort Regional Medical Center in Kentucky and advanced her career through various leadership roles, previously serving as chief nurse executive for HCA Healthcare’s National Group and vice president of Group Clinical Operations. Prior to that role, she served as vice president and assistant chief nurse executive for the organization’s Clinical Services Group.
Throughout her career, Mosier focused on nurse advocacy, clinical excellence, colleague engagement and leadership development. She expanded HCA Healthcare’s clinical education platform to more than 1,000 educators and led the integration and expansion of Galen College of Nursing following its acquisition by HCA Healthcare in 2020.
Dr. Mosier served on Galen’s board of directors and helped advance nursing care delivery through her roles on the Joint Commission Nursing Advisory Council and the American Organization for Nursing Leadership (AONL) System CNE Forum. In 2024, she was recognized by AONL as a Nurse Leader to Watch and appeared multiple times on Modern Healthcare’s “50 Most Influential Clinical Leaders” and “Top Women Leaders” lists.
Mosier earned a doctorate in healthcare administration, a master’s degree in management and leadership from Webster University and a bachelor’s degree in nursing from McKendree University. She was a board-certified nurse executive through the American Nurse Credentialing Center.
