Through our Positive Mental Health grantmaking, CFMT is making more possible for communities across the region by supporting bold, responsive mental health initiatives, including the work of nonprofit organization Healing in the Margins.

In 2024, CFMT’s reimagined approach to prioritizing a more profound impact with its Community Impact grantmaking helped Healing in the Margins expand its reach. The organization partnered with 25 clinics across Tennessee to provide over 530 hours of therapy, quadrupling its Therapy Fund, and piloted its youth-focused programming in partnership with the YMCA of Middle Tennessee. Their culturally responsive, trauma-informed approach served more than 475 individuals, including queer, neurodivergent, BIPOC, and transgender community members, meeting people where they are with care that reflects who they are.
Healing in the Margins’ three-pronged model of direct care, clinician support, and community education makes healing more accessible while shifting systems for the long term. By offering both reactive support in moments of need and proactive programming that builds resilience and belonging, the organization addresses today’s mental health challenges while investing in tomorrow’s solutions.
From therapeutic role-play groups for neurodivergent adults to the first-ever Healing Corner at Nashville Pride, they open doors to healing in places traditional systems often overlook.
