waves

Established 2013
This scholarship fund is a part of the CFMT General Scholarship Application that is open annually from December 1st to February 1st.

Eligibility: The Fund benefits high school seniors from Davidson County who attend public or private schools with preference given to students at the Nashville School of the Arts. Applicants should be planning to major in visual arts while attending any accredited four-year college, university or art institute. Students who receive support as graduating seniors may reapply annually but scholarship renewal is not guaranteed.

History: Laurie served as head of the art department at Nashville School of the Arts, where she had a profound influence on her students. Prior to NSA, she taught at the School of Discovery in Selma, Alabama, and Internationale Schule in Hamburg, Germany. Laurie, a devoted educator, saw potential in her students and held dear her efforts to help them develop their artistic ability. Her passion for art and its creation permeated all she did. In true Southern fashion, Laurie took time to write handwritten notes of thanks and encouragement. To continue Laurie’s efforts, Patricia and Al Poole established this Fund in remembrance of her and to carry on her good work.
