Join Give Black, Give Back’s co-chairs Kia Jarmon and Lisa Swift-Young from August 10-13 as they host a series of virtual events highlighting Black philanthropy and generational wealth building through conversation with special guests in recognition of this year’s Black Philanthropy Month’s theme, "Foresight 20/20."

Since its establishment in 2011, Black Philanthropy Month has reached roughly 17 million people and become an increasingly year-round, diasporic initiative that illuminates the ingenuity and transformative impact of generosity in Black communities. Primary aims of Black Philanthropy Month are informing, involving, inspiring and investing in Black philanthropic leadership to strengthen African-American and African-descent giving in all its forms, for the benefit of our planet, our communities, our organizations and our lives.

About the Artwork

Each year, the Black Philanthropy Month (BPM) poster serves as a visual representation of the annual theme and aims to inspire giving, advance the ideals of our movement and ultimately shape 21st century philanthropy. BPM 2020 poster was illustrated by artist Yétundé Olagbaju who shared about the 2020 BPM theme, “When I think of "foresight" I think of preparedness, exchange, knowledge of self, and the community that supports us all in thriving.”

The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee could not be more honored to present the 27th annual Joe Kraft Humanitarian Award on November 19th at the Music City Center to Susan and Luke Simons, civic and community leaders known for their generous philanthropy in the arts, healthcare and beyond.

 


About Joe Kraft and The Joe Kraft Humanitarian Award Fund

Established in 1993, the Joe Kraft Humanitarian Award recognizes community leaders who embody the strength of character and unwavering integrity of the late Joe Kraft. Past honorees include Amy Grant and Vince Gill, John Seigenthaler, Francis S. Guess, Clayton McWhorter, Aubrey Harwell, Jayme and McDonald Williams, Monroe J. Carell Jr., Pauline Gore, Martha Ingram, Karl Dean, Jim Haslam II, Steve and Cal Turner Jr., Phil Bredesen and Andrea Conte, Chet Atkins and Owen Bradley, Jack B. Turner, and Jerry B. Williams, among others.

The Whip Crackin' Rodeo is fun for the whole family, featuring saddle riding, a silent auction, festival foods like hamburgers, hotdogs, pizzas, corn-on-the-cob and so much more! The covered pavilion at the Wilson County Fairgrounds provides an all weather arena, so the rodeo will go on – rain...

The Whip Crackin' Rodeo is fun for the whole family, featuring saddle riding, a silent auction, festival foods like hamburgers, hotdogs, pizzas, corn-on-the-cob and so much more! The covered pavilion at the Wilson County Fairgrounds provides an all weather arena, so the rodeo will go on – rain or shine!

The rodeo also includes a day for special needs children filled with fun, games and a sample of what a real rodeo is all about. In 2017, we had the privilege of entertaining over 450 special needs youth at this mini rodeo event.

Previously, the rodeo presented the 9th Annual Whip Crackin’ Rodeo for the residents of Middle TN and the organization has raised over $40,000 for LOCAL charities.
