The Acorn Society of The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee will host its first quarterly meeting centered around the issue of Homelessness in the Nashville community on Tuesday, September 26. The meeting will feature a panel discussion from Mending Hearts, Safe Haven, Room In The Inn and The Park Center. Attendees will learn about philanthropy, how to give back to the community and how to be engaged with making a difference in Middle Tennessee. The Acorn Society’s mission is to engage, educate and empower the next generation of philanthropist. It is a component fund of The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee dedicated to the idea that it does not take great wealth to meaningfully and beneficially impact its community. This member-based fund holds quarterly meetings that feature a social and educational component around certain issue areas of philanthropy. The goal is to allow members to guide their own philanthropy - based upon their interests - and give exposure to smaller, local nonprofits where members’ efforts can make the most impact. [less-]
