Shadale Smith, a talented self-taught artist from Nashville, uses bold colors and collages to spark conversations on culture and promote positivity through her art.

Her work has been showcased across Nashville in venues, magazines, stadiums, billboards, and murals, and as the creative force behind Lanae Bloom, she advocates for mental well-being, self-expression, and positivity.

Inspired by the loss of her mother, Shadale embarked on a personal journey that revealed her true purpose and inner strength, teaching her that while life presents challenges, we have the power to rise above them. Through her art, she weaves messages of resilience and empowerment, encouraging others facing trials to embrace their inner strength, take control of their narratives, and triumph over obstacles.

Driven by a belief in the power of storytelling, Shadale inspires individuals to shine brightly and bloom into their authentic selves.

What are three concrete actions that you will take as a change agent in your family, community, workplace, and/or other affiliations to increase the chances that your vision of a Black Giving Future comes to fruition over the next five years?

1. Educate and promote philanthropy in the Black community through workshops and events. Document and show the positive impact of youth programs to inspire more participation in charitable activities.

2. Partner with local organizations to benefit Black-led causes through collaborative events and projects.

3. Advocate for representation of Black voices in decision-making roles within philanthropic organizations or philanthropy decisions.

The greatness of a community is most accurately measured by the compassionate actions of its members.
