Year-End Giving 2024

Did you know? More than 31,000 people moved to the Davidson-Williamson-Rutherford area this year, keeping us on the list of fastest-growing regions in the country. Our strong job market and vibrant culture attract many, but growth also brings challenges—from housing shortages to inaccessible childcare, with half of Nashvillians struggling to live on a sustainable wage.

This year, CFMT took bold steps forward by creating a $90M Catalyst Fund for Affordable Housing, leading a new coalition to tackle the childcare crisis, and launching the Imagine Nashville initiative. Philanthropy has been essential to each of these efforts, and donors like you have the power to shape solutions in the year ahead.

As we approach year-end, we want to remind you of key deadlines for maximizing your charitable giving impact and tax benefits in 2024. We’ve included an insert with contact information for your philanthropic advisor and guidance on making gifts by December 31.

Thank you for partnering with CFMT. With your continued support, together we can keep Nashville growing in opportunity and generosity.

Tips for Year-End Giving

  • With a Donor Advised Fund (DAF), you can make a tax-deductible contribution before year-end, allowing you to deduct up to 60% of your adjusted gross income (AGI) when giving cash to qualified charities. This flexibility allows you to plan your donations over time, yet benefit from immediate tax savings—especially helpful as DAF contributions have increased by 33% in recent years, reflecting donors’ appreciation for this strategic approach.
  • For longer-term impact, Designated and Field-of-Interest Funds offer a way to support specific causes that matter to you. Additionally, those aged 70½ and older can contribute up to $105,000 annually from their IRAs to charitable funds without incurring taxable income, making this a popular year-end strategy for many donors.
  • Finally, Legacy Giving options provide significant benefits, not only in estate tax savings but in fulfilling the long-term charitable goals that align with your legacy. At year-end, your gifts can make a difference for both you and your favorite causes, ensuring that your charitable intentions continue well beyond the calendar year.

2024 YEAR-END PROCEDURES: GRANTS & CONTRIBUTIONS

To make your year-end charitable planning a smooth and delightful process, charitable gifts must be received no later than December 31, 2024. Please note that December 31 falls on a Tuesday this year.

Below are guidelines to ensure the accurate and timely processing of gifts and grants in 2024. In addition for gifts, please inform us which fund is receiving the gift and include all necessary details so we can identify your specific contribution.
