The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee
Announces New Staff Member

Nashville, TN, November 15, 2004 – The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee, a charitable organization that benefits non-profits serving those in need in 40 Middle Tennessee counties, has announced the addition of Cynthia Brown Warner to its staff as coordinator of the Brooks Fund.

The Franklin Brooks Philanthropic Fund was established in 1995 in tribute to a champion of human rights and longtime associate professor of French and Italian at Vanderbilt University. The mission of the fund is to encourage the inclusion, acceptance and recognition of Middle Tennessee’s lesbian and gay citizens, to protect their dignity, their safety and their health.

As coordinator, Warner will oversee the development of the fund. She will be responsible for donor relations, organizing events and building relationships with the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender communities.

"Cynthia's commitment to the mission of the Brooks fund has been evident in her work in our community for several years," said Ellen Lehman, president of The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee. "With her leadership and enthusiasm, the fund will continue to fulfill its mission successfully."

Warner previously worked as project coordinator for Medibuy in Nashville from 2000 to 2001. From 1999 to 2001, she was a part-time administrative coordinator for Artrageous, Inc., a fundraiser for Nashville CARES, an organization devoted to advocacy, education and supportive services for anyone affected by HIV or AIDS. Warner held positions at Nashville CARES for nearly five years, serving as development associate and contributions manager. She was also employed as an office manager at JKH Management in Joelton from 1994 until 1995. From 1990 until 1994, Warner was education coordinator for the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) Foundation in Washington D.C. and Nashville.

The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee oversees more than 450 charitable funds. In the past twelve years, The Community Foundation has distributed $195 million to community programs and institutions. Currently, The Community Foundation manages endowment, unrestricted and memorial funds totaling $327 million. It is located at 3833 Cleghorn Avenue, Nashville, Tennessee 37215.
