WANNA PLAY?

NEW WEB SITE ALLOWS MIDDLE TENNESSEANS ACCESS TO ALL THE ENTERTAINMENT OPTIONS THE REGION HAS TO OFFER

The Community Foundation and Community Partners Launch NowPlayingNashville.com; New Online Source for Area Arts, Entertainment and Sports Information

Nashville, Tennessee – Wanna Play? The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee, with more than 40 funding partners, invites Nashvillians to get out and play by announcing the launch of NowPlayingNashville.com, a one-stop-shop Web site featuring information about arts, entertainment, sports options, and more in Middle Tennessee.

Arts organizations and local community leaders will celebrate the unveiling of Nashville’s newest Web site at a kickoff party on Wednesday, August 22. GNASH, the Nashville Predators mascot, along with a juggler and magician, will entertain as guests experience NowPlayingNashville.com through hands-on laptop stations and Web site demonstrations. The launch event will be held at City Hall in the Gulch from 4:30-6:30 p.m. and is sponsored by the Nashville Airport Authority, the Nashville Chamber of Commerce, The Nashville Convention and Visitors Bureau, and City Hall Entertainment Space.

NowPlayingNashville.com, the first Web site of its kind in Tennessee, is a comprehensive online events calendar featuring information about music, theatre, sports, dance, museums, kids and family activities, film and festivals, and many other entertainment options. Created with the goals of audience development for arts and entertainment venues throughout Middle Tennessee, promoting cultural tourism, and encouraging the residents of Middle Tennessee to take advantage of the region’s arts and entertainment offerings, the Web site provides greater, more centralized access to event information geared toward both residents and visitors.

“If ever there was a team effort, NowPlayingNashville is it. This collaboration already includes over 300 arts and cultural organizations, more than 40 funders and strategic alliances, and a host of nonprofit organizations sharing their events on the site,” said Ellen Lehman, president of The Community Foundation. “Given the almost supersonic speed with which this initiative has come together, the contributions of all these partners have been vital. The Community Foundation offers its sincerest thanks to those who are already a part of NowPlayingNashville.com and to those who will join in the weeks and months ahead.”

NowPlayingNashville.com will also offer special discounts in an effort to make the arts accessible to all Middle Tennesseans. Subscribers to e-XCLUSIVES! on NowPlayingNashville.com will receive weekly email updates about featured events and special promotions.

The NowPlayingNashville.com software was developed by Artsopolis, Inc, a nonprofit based in Silicon Valley, California. Several cities nationwide are using the Artsopolis platform to promote the arts in their communities including Austin, Phoenix and Denver.
