Tennessee Farm Bureau Sets Up Fund to Help Farmers Devastated by Recent Tornadoes
The Tennessee Farm Bureau, a statewide organization dedicated to assisting farmers, has set up a disaster relief fund at The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee to help agricultural producers hit by the recent tornadoes that swept through Tennessee February 5, 2008.
Funds from the Tennessee Farm Disaster Response Fund will be directed to the farm and rural community to help families rebuild the agricultural infrastructure in the affected areas. Grants from the fund are intended to help those who have incurred substantial damage to their homes, farms and/or personal property in the thirteen Presidentially declared disaster counties across the state (Benton, Hardin, Hickman, Houston, Lewis, Macon, Madison, Montgomery, Perry, Shelby, Sumner, Trousdale and Williamson counties).
“The Farm Bureau’s efforts to establish this fund has been as a result of many contacts from outside the state and within to assist the farm community in some meaningful way,” said Bobby Beets, director of the Tennessee Farm Bureau Federation. “Through the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee, anyone giving can feel assured that the gifts will be handled according to federal guidelines and distributed efficiently and effectively.”
Donations to the Tennessee Farm Disaster Response Fund are one hundred percent tax deductible and can be made online, www.cfmt.org, or by mailing a check to:
