The Community Foundation Hosts Prominent Parenting Expert and Author for 2008 Edna S. Thomas Lecture Series
Psychologist and Best-Selling Author Dr. Anthony Wolf to Give Workshop and Lecture October 28
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee announces the much-anticipated ninth annual Edna Thomas Lecture Series Tuesday, October 28, featuring a widely sought after parenting speaker and expert.
The series is made possible by The Foundation’s Edna S. Thomas Fund, established in 2000 by Thomas’ daughter, Judy Lewis, as a tribute to her mother’s outstanding parenting skills. The Fund endows the annual lecture series to provide tools for parents and educators to raise healthy children.
Dr. Anthony Wolf, a practicing clinical psychologist, best-selling author and father of two will present this year’s lecture series on sibling bickering and the secret of parenting. He has written several books, including “Get Out of My Life, but First Could You Drive Cheryl and Me to the Mall?” and “The Secret of Parenting, How to be in Charge of Today's Kids - from Toddlers to Preteens - Without Threat or Punishment.”
“We are honored
to work with Edna Thomas’ family to carry on her
legacy with this series,” said Ellen Lehman, president of The Community
Foundation of Middle Tennessee. “We look forward to sharing the practical
advice and insights for which Dr. Wolf is so acclaimed.”
The October 28 morning workshop focuses
on sibling bickering and will begin at 9:30
a.m. at Westminster Presbyterian Church.
The evening lecture, titled “The
Secret of Parenting: What Works and What
Doesn't with Today's Kids,” is
at 7:00 p.m., October 28, at the Montgomery
Bell Academy Auditorium. Both sessions are
free and open to the public. Donations can
be made to the Edna S. Thomas Fund at www.cfmt.org.
Dr. Wolf received his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the City University of New York and completed his undergraduate work at Columbia College. For the past 25 years he has been in private practice seeing children and adolescents. Dr. Wolf is married and the father of two ex-teenagers.
Dr. Wolf is a frequent contributor to parenting magazines including Parents and Family Circle and has written a monthly column for CHILD magazine and a bi-weekly column for the Toronto Globe and Mail. He has appeared on many television shows including “Today,” “The View” and “CBS This Morning.”
