The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee Awards More Than $1 Million in Grants
Nashville, Tennessee – The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee has distributed more than $1 million in grants to 202 nonprofit organizations in 27 Middle Tennessee counties as part of The Foundation’s annual discretionary grant making process.
“The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee believes in the present and future of Middle Tennessee and supports nonprofits working to improve the quality of life in our communities,” said Ellen Lehman, president. “The people of Middle Tennessee should be very proud of the extraordinary work being done by local nonprofits addressing a variety of needs from public education and animal welfare to children and seniors.”
Discretionary grants are used by The Foundation to respond to emerging needs, new programs and innovative services and are awarded through an application process to tax-exempt, nonprofit organizations serving Middle Tennessee. The Foundation is particularly interested in proposals that help address areas of need in the community which are currently unmet.
Grants address a variety of programs including the arts and humanities, conservation and preservation, environment, education, employment and training, health and human services, housing, and economic and community development.
