Nonprofits Encouraged to Apply
for Annual Discretionary Grants
Through The Community Foundation
of Middle Tennessee
Nashville, TN, February 28, 2005 – The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee, a charitable organization that benefits nonprofits serving worthy causes in 40 Middle Tennessee counties, has announced its annual call for grant applications and encourages nonprofits throughout the region* to apply.
Each year, through a discretionary selection process, the Foundation gives grants to nonprofits throughout Middle Tennessee. To download a grant application, visit www.cfmt.org. The deadline is May 2 at 4:30 p.m.
"The Community Foundation exists to connect generosity with need,” said Ellen Lehman, president of The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee. “Every year we invite these organizations to share their ideas in hopes that we can help fund their work. Our discretionary grants generally range from $500 to $5,000 and cover the broadest range of nonprofit programs and services.”
After receiving the grant applications, a Community Foundation committee will begin to determine allocation of approximately $450,000. Based upon needs the Foundation identifies, grants are given in a wide range of categories, including: animals; arts and humanities; civic affairs and community planning; conservation and environment; education; employment and training; health; historic preservation; housing and community development; human services for citizens of all ages. The Community Foundation grants are disbursed in September.

Bedford, Cannon, Cheatham, Clay, Coffee, Cumberland, Davidson, DeKalb, Dickson, Fentress, Franklin, Giles, Hickman, Houston, Humphreys, Jackson, Lawrence, Lewis, Lincoln, Macon, Marshall, Maury, Montgomery, Moore, Overton, Perry, Pickett, Putnam, Robertson, Rutherford, Smith, Stewart, Sumner, Trousdale, Van Buren, Warren, Wayne, White, Williamson, and Wilson.
The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee oversees more than 500 charitable funds. In the past twelve years, The Community Foundation has distributed $225 million to community programs and institutions.
