11th Annual Cumberland Ball Benefits Scholarship Fund for Cheatham County Students

More Than $56,000 Awarded in Scholarships in Cheatham County

Cheatham County, Tenn. – The board of directors of The Cheatham County Community Foundation announces the 11th annual Cumberland Ball on November 14, 2009, at Hillwood Country Club in Nashville. This event benefits The Cheatham County Community Foundation Scholarship Fund, which has awarded more than $56,000 in scholarships to Cheatham County students pursuing an education.

The 11th annual Cumberland Ball begins at 6:30 p.m. with a cocktail reception and silent auction, followed by a sit-down dinner, live auction and dancing to “The Nashville Blue Tones.” Tickets are available at www.cfmt.org, or by contacting Betty Broz at betty.broz@nscc.edu.

“We are so thankful for the community’s continued support of The Cumberland Ball as we invest in education and award scholarships to deserving students year after year,” said Valerie Dreier, board chair of The Cheatham County Community Foundation. “The Foundation’s focus on education is one way we are working to improve quality of life for the county’s residents. We hope many will attend the ball for a fun night in support of the Scholarship Fund.”

This year’s silent and live auction will feature a variety of items including signed guitars from Garth Brooks and Taylor Swift, a painting by Amy Bornstein-Clark, and a Norwood Jewelers diamond necklace, among other items.

For 11 years, Middle Tennessee residents have attended the Cumberland Ball and given generously to help raise a community endowment of more than $200,000 for The Cheatham County Community Foundation Scholarship Fund. In 2009, The Foundation awarded scholarships to nine local students.

Platinum Sponsors for the Cumberland Ball include Community Bank & Trust and The John E. Mayfield Charitable Foundation.

For more information about the Cumberland Ball or sponsorship, please contact The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee at 615-321-4939, or email Betty Broz at betty.broz@nscc.edu. Tickets are $100 per person, or $125 per person for a Bronze Sponsorship, and can be purchased at www.cfmt.org or by contacting Betty Broz.
