The Community Foundation Names Board Officers and Members
NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Outgoing Chair Nelson Andrews announces that The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee, a charitable organization that connects generosity with need in Middle Tennessee, has appointed three new board members and four community leaders to officer positions.
The newly elected officers are Howard Stringer, chairman; Deborah Turner of NewsChannel 5 Network, vice chairman; Kevin Lavender of Fifth Third Bank, Secretary; and Susan Simons, treasurer.
The Community Foundation welcomes to the board Mark Emkes, CEO and president of Bridgestone Americas Holding, Inc. and Bridgestone/Firestone North American Tire, LLC; John Ferguson, CEO and president of Corrections Corporation of America; and Stuart McWhorter, founder and managing director of Clayton Associates.
“These individuals are outstanding community leaders who bring varied knowledge and expertise to our board,” said Ellen Lehman, president of The Community Foundation. “We are grateful they have committed to leading The Community Foundation in our work to address this community’s needs and opportunities.”
The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee oversees more than 660 charitable funds. In the past seventeen years, The Community Foundation has distributed more than $380 million to community programs and institutions.
