Event to Benefit Bellevue Community Fund
NASHVILLE, Tenn.—What will Bellevue look like in 5, 10 or 15 years? The originators of the Bellevue Community Fund of The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee are working to make Bellevue the best place to live, work and play, and are hosting a “Living Cheap” benefit luncheon and silent auction on Sept. 27 to raise money for the Fund.
The luncheon and silent auction will feature The Tennessean columnist and author Mary Hance, aka “Ms. Cheap.” The event will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 27, 2008, at Chaffin’s Barn Dinner Theater, located at 8204 Highway 100. The event will include patriotic music by The Bellevue Community Choir and a fashion show featuring adult and children’s apparel provided by Apricot Lane and Savanna’s Closet. Tickets are $25 and are available at The Community Foundation’s Web site, www.cfmt.org, or by contacting event coordinator Councilman Charlie Tygard at 615-256-7146.
The Bellevue Community Fund is intended to endow the financial support of nonprofit organizations and programs serving the residents of the Bellevue area. The donor, Councilman Tygard, created the Fund in honor of Donna Davis, a Bellevue resident who nearly lost her home to foreclosure in the early 1990s. Tygard organized a community effort to raise funds, buy the house, set up a Trust, and allow Ms. Davis to live there as long as she was able. Upon her death in 2005, Tygard sold the home and created the Fund to support the Bellevue community that came to Davis’ aid.
“Bellevue is a great community in which to live, and it will continue to grow as it welcomes new families and residents,” said Councilman Tygard. “Benefit attendants will not only have the opportunity to hear one of the city’s more celebrated columnists and authors, but they will also be supporting their fellow residents and the vital nonprofits in the Bellevue community.”
Event sponsors include Wal-Mart, Sam’s Club, Costco, and Dollar General.
Ms. Cheap is published Thursdays and Saturdays in The Tennessean’s Living section and Sundays in Life. She also appears on WTVF-Channel 5’s Talk of the Town on Thursdays at 12:30 p.m. and is the author of Ms. Cheap’s Guide to Getting More for Less.
