Discretionary Grants | Arts Build Communities (ABC) Grant Program | Student Ticket Subsidy Grant Program

The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee awards grants for a broad array of charitable purposes in the areas of education, health, social services, and for general community programs that improve the well-being of the residents of the Middle Tennessee area.

The Foundation awards grants from a variety of sources: donor advised funds, designated and field of interest funds, and unrestricted funds. The Foundation accepts unsolicited, competitive proposals only for grants from our unrestricted funds and field of interest funds, which are described below.

Description of Grant Funds

Unrestricted/Discretionary/Field of Interest

*NEW DEADLINE -- AUGUST 1* annually

Unrestricted/Discretionary Funds are used by The Foundation to respond to new programs, emerging needs, and innovative services that might not be started or might not continue were it not for The Community Foundation support. Applications for Discretionary grants will be accepted from tax-exempt, non-profit organizations serving Middle Tennessee. Gifts will be made in the field of the arts and humanities, conservation and preservation, environment, education, employment and training, health and human services, housing and economic and community development. The Foundation is particularly interested in proposals that help address areas of need in the community which are currently unmet.

Field of Interest Funds are established by donors who support a particular charitable endeavor or cause, such as education, the environment, the arts, youth services, and health care. The Board has the ability to make Discretionary Grants from these Funds and may be aided in its efforts by Advisory Committees constituted for that purpose.
