Corporate Care Fund Program In Action

Magazines.com Associate Care Fund

At Magazines.com, caring about fellow employees is part of the company culture. As CEO Jay Clarke watched the company grow over the last several years, he wanted to ensure they put in place a structure for ongoing support of their commitment to employee care.

When the Franklin, Tenn.-based company was ready and wanted a streamlined system for helping its employees in need, it turned to The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee and its Corporate Care Fund program. It was a win-win for Magazines.com – a charitable avenue to help their employees and a system that offers check and balances and helps protect employees’ privacy, with The Community Foundation handling the applications for assistance.

A. O. Smith Corporation Employee Care Fund

The A.O. Smith Corporation’s 1.5 million-square foot facility in Ashland City, Tenn., was devastated by the May 2010 flood, which halted operations for employees, many of whom were flood victims themselves. As water covered A.O. Smith’s plant, the company understood the emotional and financial damage its employees were facing, as many were watching their homes wash away.

A. O. Smith established a Corporate Care Fund just days after the flood to help its employees recover. Through the Fund, eligible A.O. Smith employees have applied to receive help with everything from repairing their homes to rebuilding their lives. In 2010, the Fund was able to provide more than $142,000 in assistance for company employees; the Fund will continue to serve as a way for A. O. Smith to offer help to employees facing serious financial hardship because of a crisis.
